16 Tips To Help Plan Your Summer Vacation On Seabrook Island

The top travel trends for 2023 reveal that travelers are seeking sustainable travel with eco-friendly nature experiences, wildlife adventures, wide open spaces, and a slower pace of life to escape the stresses of modern living… Enter Seabrook Island, South Carolina! The perfect destination to fulfill all of your summertime vacation goals.

Seabrook Island is an idyllic getaway in any season. The weather is perfect for long beach days, rounds of golf on the world-class fairways, wildlife and nature tours on land and water, or galloping along the shoreline on horseback pinching yourself back to reality. Now that you’re daydreaming, we’ll add luxury oceanfront pools, succulent seafood, private pet-friendly beaches, and luxury vacation rentals right out of the pages of Southern Living magazine.

We love a spontaneous getaway to the beach. But, with summer being the most popular season on Seabrook Island, and the demand for travel, it pays to get ahead of the curve and plan early. Our team at Seabrook Exclusives has put together the top tips to plan, prepare and experience the best of Seabrook Island for summer 2023.

1. MAKE YOUR TRAVEL PLANS

Situated only 30 miles from Charleston, Seabrook Island is an easy drive to destination, or a comfortable flight from the west or east coast into Charleston International Airport (CHS). If you’re flying in, reserve your rental cars well in advance or arrange airport transportation to Seabrook Island with Island Transportation or Charleston Limousine & Shuttle Service.

2. FIND A VACATION RENTAL TO SUIT YOUR SUMMER STYLE

There are no hotels on Seabrook Island and demand for summer vacation rentals is at an all-time high. One of the key benefits of planning ahead is finding the best vacation rentals, in the best location, at the best price! Whether you’re seeking a luxury beachfront home, a golf villa on the fairways, a racquet club villa, or a pet-friendly rental for your pooch, booking early means first dibs on the best vacation homes, villas, and condos in our portfolio of Seabrook Island vacation rentals.

3. CREATE AN ITINERARY

Your key to an idyllic summer vacation on Seabrook Island is your Club Amenity Card. Club amenity cards are required to access the Beach Club Pools, the Lake House facilities, the Island Club golf courses, Racquet Club, and all dining establishments on the island. If complimentary access cards are not included in your rental, they can be purchased as an added option at the time of reservation or by contacting our team.

4. PLAN A BEACH DAY

Summer days are best spent at the beach. With 3.5 miles of pristine pet-friendly beaches and easy beach access, Seabrook Island is a haven for beach-goers and their pups! Spend your days swimming, sunbathing, beach combing, dolphin and sea turtle watching from the sand, or simply strolling the shoreline for beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Be sure to book your beach gear and games before the summer rush to avoid disappointment!

5. SPEND TIME AT THE BEACH CLUB POOLS

Indulge in luxurious pool time at the Beach Club’s two oceanfront swimming pools with sunbathing decks, relaxing outdoor restaurants, private beach access, and panoramic views from your sun lounger or beach cabana. Flip flops, casual beachwear or a cover-up, and a vacation state of mind are all you need to enjoy pool time at the Beach Club Pools on Seabrook Island

6. WORK ON YOUR FITNESS

If you like to stick to your fitness goals on vacation, you’ll love spending time at the Seabrook Island Lake House on Palmetto Lake. The Lake House is a fitness and wellness facility with state-of-the-art equipment, a wide variety of group fitness classes, an indoor and outdoor pool, a basketball court, and nature trails around the lake.

7. GO HORSEBACK RIDING ON THE BEACH

Make memories you’ll never forget galloping through the surf on Seabrook Island. The Seabrook Island Equestrian Center offers pony rides for the kids, riding lessons, and bucket-list trail rides along the shoreline of Seabrook North Beach. Rides are scheduled around the tides and must be booked in advance.

8. PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF

Hit the links on Seabrook Island’s two eco-friendly Audubon championship golf courses! The Ocean Winds Golf Course and Crooked Oaks Golf Course wind through the island’s natural landscapes with challenging play for all abilities, a state-of-the-art instruction facility, a full-service Pro Shop for all your golfing needs, and coaching sessions for all handicaps, including the kids. Rental guests may schedule tee times up to 3 days in advance.

9. GET ON THE COURTS

Seabrook Island’s award-winning racquet club is recognized as one of the finest racquet clubs in the world! The Seabrook Island Racquet Club features 15 Har-Tru tennis courts and 2 pickleball courts with shaded canopies and porches to relax between matches, along with a pro shop and private or group lessons for tennis and pickleball enthusiasts.

10. SEND THE KIDS TO SUMMER CAMP

One of the perks of a summer family vacation on Seabrook Island is Camp Seabrook’s daily camp sessions at the Beach Club and Lake House. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, kids can sign up for endless activities ranging from nature activities, tennis, and golf to the creative arts, pool games, movie nights, and beach bonfires. The kids are sure to make memories on Seabrook Island that they will treasure forever.

11. TAKE A RIDE ON A BEACHCRUISER

The best way to get around Seabrook Island is by bike! Designated bike paths weave throughout the island and beyond to Freshfields Village, Bohicket Marina, and Kiawah Island. We partner with Surfscooter Bike Rentals to offer guests all the gear needed to cruise the shoreline and streets, delivered to your rental home on the day of arrival with pick up on departure – and a 5% discount for Seabrook Exclusives guests!

12. GET ON THE WATER

A summer vacation on Seabrook is not complete without exploring the pristine Lowcountry rivers, tidal creeks, and the depths of the ocean. Hook up with a local fishing guide, set sail to the barrier islands, embark on a dolphin tour, or even go paddleboarding with your pooch! Local guided tours and water sports rentals are in high demand during the summer season on Seabrook, so be sure to plan well in advance!
