Seabrook Island Vacation Rentals FAQs:

What are the top activities to enjoy on Seabrook Island?

Start with the beaches of Seabrook Island. They’re quiet, pristine, and perfect for swimming. Indulge in a variety of activities, from shell collecting to soaking in the sun or sinking your feet into the warm sand.

The next best thing is golf. Golfers have two championship courses to choose from, both Audubon certified. For nature lovers, you can disconnect from the bustling outside world with miles of trails winding through the maritime forests and marshlands. Here, you can immerse yourself in natural wonder through biking, hiking, or birdwatching anywhere across the island.

Out on the water, there’s paddling and kayaking through tidal creeks, where dolphins sometimes cruise along with you. For a more unique adventure, the equestrian center offers horseback rides through some of the island’s most scenic corners.

Once the day winds down, you can sit back, relax, and do nothing but enjoy good company with a gentle island breeze.

When is the best time to visit Seabrook Island?

The best time to visit depends on what kind of Seabrook experience you’re looking for. Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) see fewer visitors if you want to avoid the tourist crowd.

In contrast, summer is the busiest stretch, but also when the island feels most alive. If you don’t mind the extra company, this season is great for long beach days or embarking in water activities.

December to February is winter on Seabrook Island, and everything becomes a little more muted. The cooler temperature means a pause on some outdoor activities, but it’s still warm enough to do some golfing or to go on a nature walk.

Each season shifts the island’s mood, so choose the one that matches what you’re after.

How do I get to Seabrook Island and move around once there?

The most straightforward way is to take a flight to Charleston International Airport, located about 30 miles from Seabrook Island. From Charleston, it takes a 45-minute drive through John’s Island to reach Seabrook’s gated community, whether via a rental car or a pre-arranged shuttle.

Just a heads up: there’s no public transport going directly to the island. Renting a car is the best option – not just during arrival but also to gain entry through the security gate with a visitor’s pass. Most visitors also choose to bring a car for convenience when going to the beach, the golf course, or dining out.

Biking is also a popular option for getting around Seabrook Island. They’re easy to rent and suitable for exploring Seabrook’s quieter corners and compact landscape. If you don’t want to rent a car or bike, walking works perfectly fine for short distances near the main attractions of the island.

What is the weather like on Seabrook Island throughout the year?

Known for its subtropical climate, Seabrook moves through the seasons distinctly. It has warm, humid summers, with June to August temperatures reaching highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. It’s an ideal time to enjoy the beach as long as you don’t mind the heat or the occasional afternoon thunderstorm.

Winter is from December to February, and the weather stays mild, with daytime highs in the 50s and 60s and rare dips below freezing.

Spring and fall are from March to May and September to November, respectively. With a pleasant high reaching the 70s, there’s less humidity.  If you want to avoid the summertime intensity of Seabrook, this is a great time to visit, although you might run into pollen during spring or the occasional rainy day in the fall.

Where should I stay on Seabrook Island for the best experience?

There aren’t any traditional hotels on the island, and most accommodations on Seabrook are vacation rentals such as villas, cottages, or beachfront homes. Rest assured that they all offer plenty of space for families or groups. Many come with kitchens, ocean access, or even a pool.

Where you stay will set the tone for your entire trip. Rentals near Bohicket Marina are close to dining and water activities. Beach homes, on the other hand, are all about relaxed days. If you’re into something more active, staying near the golf courses or club amenities gives all that with a resort-style flair.

Wherever you choose to land, book through a rental company to ensure that you’ll have access to the gated community. Keep in mind, picking a spot near the beach or trails can make your island experience feel even more seamless and immersive.
