How To Bike Around Seabrook Island

Situated only 25 miles from downtown Charleston, Seabrook Island is a luxury gated community open only to residents and guests staying on the island. From the moment you arrive on Seabrook Island, you’re immersed in natural beauty, pristine landscapes, and a pace of life that forces you to slow down and switch to vacation time.

Seabrook Island encompasses 2,200 acres of serene marshes and tidal creeks, semi-tropical maritime forests, and 3.5 miles of secluded oceanfront splendor with world-class resort amenities and an abundance of eco-friendly nature-inspired activities. The best part of your vacation – you don’t need to load up the car to explore the sights, sounds, and serenity of Seabrook Island.

The roads and quiet side streets are paved, flat, and shaded with gorgeous live oaks draped in Spanish Moss and the speed limit is slow (and enforced) making it safe – just watch out for local wildlife along the way.

Bordered only by rolling dunes and sea oats, stretches of maritime forest, and luxury Lowcountry homes, the beaches on Seabrook Island are idyllic for a beach bike ride or a whole-day adventure. Begin your day with a sunrise and dolphin strand feeding experience at Captain Sams Inlet, search for nesting sea turtles along the shoreline, and cruise through warm ocean breezes all the way to Privateer Point near Camp St. Christopher.

For a romantic sunset bike ride, Pelican Beach (aka Sunset Beach) is the place to be. Biking on the beaches is always best after a high tide and, wherever you stay on Seabrook, you’re either oceanfront or only a short bike ride to beach access.

If you’re not staying oceanfront, there are 8 public boardwalks on Seabrook Island to access the beach for a bike ride – please do not ride bikes on the boardwalks!
